Cocoon Room

(3 – 24 months)

At Grow Happy Childcare, we have a specially designated space for our youngest children, offering a calm and unique environment where they can settle, explore, and begin their developmental journey. Our baby area is thoughtfully equipped with a wide range of high-quality toys and resources, creating a multi-sensory space that encourages curiosity and supports their early learning experiences.

The area includes heuristic play baskets, which allow babies to discover and engage with different textures and materials,  fostering exploration and discovery. Additionally, we have a dedicated outdoor space where babies can flow freely between indoor and outdoor play, supported by gentle crawl ramps designed for easy access.

We maintain a low adult-to-child ratio in this area, with one staff member allocated to every three children. This ensures that each child receives plenty of individual attention, enabling strong, supportive relationships and enriching learning opportunities.

Caterpillar Room

(18 – 36 months)

Our Caterpillar Room is a bright, cheerful space designed especially for children aged 18 to 36 months - a stage full of discovery, rapid development, and growing independence. This vibrant room is carefully set up to support your child’s curiosity and confidence as they begin to explore the world more independently, with plenty of opportunities for hands-on learning and meaningful play.

In the Caterpillar Room, we place a strong emphasis on the three prime areas of learning, which are central to everything we do at this stage of development:

  • Personal, Social and Emotional Development – helping children build trusting relationships, express their feelings, and develop a strong sense of self within a nurturing environment

  • Communication and Language – encouraging children to listen, understand, and express themselves through stories, songs, conversations, and interactive activities

  • Physical Development – supporting both gross and fine motor skills through movement, climbing, mark-making, and self-care routines that foster independence

Our caring team creates a calm yet stimulating atmosphere where each child is supported to grow at their own pace, make choices, and feel secure. With a rich variety of play opportunities and strong key person relationships, the Caterpillar Room gives your child the perfect environment to thrive during these important early years.

Butterfly Room

(30 months – 5 years)

Our Butterfly Room, located in the spacious upstairs area of the nursery, is designed for children aged 30 months to 5 years. This is a vibrant and stimulating environment where growing independence, imagination, and school-readiness are nurtured every day.

To support the wide range of development in this age group, we offer a two-stage learning approach within the Butterfly Room. This allows our younger preschool children to build confidence at their own pace while our older children are gradually introduced to more structured learning opportunities, ensuring a smooth and supported transition toward school life.

A key benefit of remaining with us at Grow Happy Childcare is the continuity of care and the low staff-to-child ratio of 1:8, even in the final preschool year. This personalised attention contrasts with many school nurseries, where ratios may increase to 1:15 or even 1:30, and children may not always receive the same level of individual support. Additionally, attending a school-based nursery does not guarantee a place in the attached primary school, which can cause uncertainty for families and yet more disruption for your child.

In the Butterfly Room, our experienced team creates a balance between playful exploration and purposeful learning, aligned with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). Children are encouraged to express their ideas, build friendships, solve problems, and develop the confidence and independence they’ll carry into school and beyond - all within a caring, familiar setting they know and love.
